Spring is the season of the Wood element, and represents creativity, growth, adaptability and self-expression. Think of the tiny tree that grows sideways out of a brick wall, or the blade of grass that finds a way to grow through tarmac. This drive to actualise ambition and potential, demonstrates the power of Wood. The Wood energy also asks us to be able to be flexible and harmonious within our environment, to live and thrive alongside each other, finding coexistence that still allows for us to be our individual selves. Order without a regime, cohesion without a plan. When our Wood energy is blocked, or weak or too strong, our energy will stagnate, and even rise upwards, or cause symptoms that move within the body. When our Wood energy is weak, we might struggle to bend with circumstance, or to see a creative project into fruition. We might feel low, stuck, without energy or creativity. Useful Spring time tips
Stretch! Especially the sides of your body, but in general have a good and thorough stretch to get your Chi flowing freely and to nourish your tendons and ligaments. Be kind to your Liver and Gallbladder and avoid rich and fatty foods. Give your Wood energy a kick start with lots of spring greens, and add a squeeze of lemon juice. If you know you have some festering issues that are unexpressed, find a place to express them – it is a good time to work through issues of anger and resentment. Get creative – now would be a good time to start journaling about new projects, how to navigate obstacles and to think about where you are heading, find your visionary self.
